Rachael Tayar Memorial – Youth Scholarship Fund

Attended by her loving family, Rachael Yvonne Tayar, died Easter Sunday 2005, at the home of her sister in Oceanside, California. Rachael was born October 12, 1939, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the daughter of the late Rod and Jouree Blakemore Tayar. Rachael lived a rich life, punctuated by her many travels with family and friends; her love of the outdoors; her love for her dogs; her passions for music, drama and movies; her interest in technology. Rachael attended Oklahoma State University, Trinity College and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she earned a Ph.D. in sociology. In addition to teaching sociology and statistics for a number of colleges, she worked for many years as a training specialist for the state of California. She lived in Sacramento for almost 25 years.

Sacramento Professional Facilitators is saddened by the loss of a good friend and colleague. In Rachael's honor, we are pleased to announce the establishment of a scholarship in her name to assist in the development of future youth leadership. Contributions will fund various youth programs including an annual ICA sponsored "train the trainer" for international ICA staff to implement the Technology of Participation (ToP)¨ methods in their respective countries. Sacramento Professional Facilitators has hosted several regional training sessions for participating international facilitators from Croatia, the United Kingdom, Vietnam, Ghana, Tanzania, and Japan. See the photos below for youth participation in these recent training sessions.

If you would like to contribute, please write checks for tax-deductible donations to Sacramento Professional Facilitators with a note for "Rachael Tayar Youth Scholarship Fund." We would also like your name and address so we can list you as a supporter, inform you how your donation was used, and connect you with the youth leader whom you helped train and support.
